Kathy Sherman is an enthusiastic, seasoned Pilates Instructor who trained and taught in the Philadelphia area before moving to Waunakee 2-1/2 years ago. She is a graduate of Penn State’s School of Health and Physical Education, and after a lengthy detour through Corporate America, returned to her “fitness roots” in 2005 to complete a 700+hour Full Pilates Certification Program at Body Precision, an affiliate to the Pilates Center in Boulder, as well as a Pilates Masters Program with the brilliant Second Generation teacher, Karen Carlson.
“Living on the east coast, I was very fortunate to have a thriving Pilates community in which to learn and grow,” As such, Kathy has studied with dozens of high profile, highly-respected Pilates teachers: a lengthy list including four Pilates Elders and world-renowned movement experts. Earlier this year, Kathy became a certified instructor in Buff Bones™, a medically-endorsed workout that combines Pilates with bone-strengthening and balance techniques to optimize the health and safety of bones and joints. It is an excellent workout particularly for those with osteopenia/osteoporosis or bone density concerns for the future.
Training, deeply rooted in anatomy, physiology, and Pilates choreography, complemented by a thorough understanding and appreciation of the history and variety in Pilates methodology has provided Kathy with an excellent platform to successfully address the multitude of issues and concerns her clients have presented over the years. “Joseph Pilates’ work profoundly changed my life and it is incredibly rewarding for me to guide others along their own personal journeys to, in Joe’s words, “the priceless gift of physical well-being, mental calm and spiritual peace.” I love this work!
